The other morning was nutty: breakfast dishes piled up, laundry everywhere, and two teething twenty-two month olds. Need I say more?! ;) So what would a photographer do? Set up an impromptu set and snap pictures. HA!
These girls are going to be TWO in less than two months! They each have their own personality, own demeanor, and are so uniquely their own beings. They adore their brother (and moments later will run from him crying about something he did), get the most excited when Daddy gets home from work every day, and spontaneously hold each other’s hands. My girls are, quite simply, a blessing.

This little one is near and dear to my heart. I love her little family so much, and couldn’t wait to meet her! The most special part for me is that I was blessed to document her coming into the world, the moment she was born. I’ll be sharing that with you all soon!
Baby Blake was such a smushy little perfect bit of cuddly goodness during her newborn session. Big sister Blair rocked the photo shoot showing off her veteran HJP status, and of course mom and dad were gorgeous as always. I love, love, love newborn sessions. I find such joy in posing my newbie babies in all sorts of cute props and goodness, and then incorporating families through a lifestyle shoot during the session. I capture them snuggling all around their house and all the love that surrounds their new bundle of joy.
These aren’t even all my favorites. I really, really had to narrow my faves down for this post, and it’s still super picture-heavy! Welcome to the world, Blake!

Wow! Do you follow my HJP Facebook page? If not, you should! I have been posting some crazy adorable sneak peeks of Baby B’s newborn session over there. She’s perfect. She’s got squishy little lips. And she smells so good. Yup, that’s what little itty bitty baby girls are made of. While editing some of her session, I couldn’t help but reminisce over her maternity session while she was still cooking in the belly. ;) Here’s a little before and after for you:
Mommies-to-be: check out my investment page for info on the maternity & newborn package I offer. I’m going to get all cliche on you and remind you there isn’t one person who has ever regretted documenting these special times in their little family’s lives. Also, it’s certainly never too early to talk to me about your maternity and newborn session. They’re the only sessions that are sensitive to a Goldilocks time frame: 28-34 weeks into your pregnancy, your belly is not too small, and you’re not quite uncomfortable yet, it’s just right. And the perfect window for newborn pictures are around 7-10 days, as they are just getting used to being out of the womb, but still super duper sleepy and easy to pose. March Minis Recap | Orange County Children’s Photographer
We’re officially a week into April, which means the Easter Bunny will soon by hopping around delivering goodies after my kids take their picture with him and attend a couple of egg hunts and Easter-themed activities. Since when is Easter the new Christmas? Perhaps a topic for a separate blog post.
All that’s to say that March was equally magical. I featured March mini sessions last month and several clients took the opportunity to use these smaller sessions to update frames throughout the house, order canvases and mini albums for keepsakes and gift giving, and document milestones. Perfect! And so much fun! These cuties clearly showed up ready to explore, giggle, and enjoy the afternoon sun.

How stoked is this baby going to be when he or she (yup! It’s a SURPRISE!) comes home from the hospital and realizes he lives at the BEACH?! Legit walking…err, crawling…distance. So rad! Had such a fun time photographing these adorable two for their maternity session. It was SUCH a nice day–woohoo!–which also meant it was a little crowded. Nothing a photographer versed in posing and Photoshop can’t handle. ;)
Thursday’s Three
1. The wittle tiny baby from this maternity session should be arriving any day now in the next week and a half! I can’t wait to help welcome her into the world and get her all squishy-posed up for her newborn session!
2. Wish List: one day I’ll own this bad boy. But for now, I’ll just dream. ;)
3. I am over halfway through the MVP March Challenge on Instagram! I’ve been having so much fun posting every single day, and hope I can finish out the rest of the month strong. Tons of my challenge posts have been taken with my good ole iphone, which I think has been key to keeping me on track. Instead of worrying about lugging my big camera around with me and then the editing pictures to post, I’ve been having a great time snapping away with my phone camera! If you don’t follow HJP on Instagram, you really should! I love giving a glimpse into my life with clients and friends.
